Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week is usually the last week of January in celebration of Catholic education nationwide. A new theme is chosen each year. Teachers, staff, students, and parents celebrate the theme and Catholic education with special assemblies, breakfasts, and school-wide activities. The Educational Enrichment Committee assists the teachers and staff in preparation of this week.
During this December event, graham crackers, icing, ice cream cones, and dozens of snacks and candies of every size, shape, and color are used to construct gingerbread houses. Help is needed for preparation, set up, and clean up. Call the school office for chairperson contact information.
Reduced price ride-all-day tickets are sold in May for the Sacred Heart Kennywood Day. Tickets can also be used any weekday throughout the summer.
The Scholastic Book Fair is usually in the fall. Parents can visit and purchase paperback and hardcover titles at parent-teacher conferences and on the weekend; students visit the Book Fair with their classes. Parent volunteers help staff the fair, and proceeds go to the school library.
